Short Biographies
Ms. Anna Simeonov: Ms. Simeonov has a Master of Applied Health Science (MRI) from Charles Sturt University-Australia, and Bachelor of Science Degree (Radiography), College for Applied Health Sciences-Bulgaria. Currently she holds a position as an MRI Charge Technologist at Princess Margaret Hospital, Department of Radiation Oncology and Lecturer, Radiation Medicine Program University of Toronto. Anna has over 20 years of experience in radiography, CT and clinical and research MRI. For the last 15 years specializing in MRI applications for image-guided radiation therapy and cancer treatment response.
Dr. Mohamed Sakr : Dr. Sakr ha an MD degree, a Master in Radiodiagnosis and a PhD in MRI and Neuroimaging. After receiving his MD degree, Dr. Sakr had 4 years residency in Radiodiagnosis at Ain Shams University Hospitals, Egypt. Since 1995, He worked as an Assistant Professor of Medical Imaging at the radiology Department of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Sakr has 20 Years of experience as a Consultant Radiologist and Medical Sonologist at educational, governmental and private Hospitals and he managed Radiology Department of a group of Hospitals. He received a Fellowship in Neuroimaging at MGH, Boston, MA, USA. He is a Member of the ESRNM (Egyptian Society of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine). In Canada, he us a Certified Medical Radiation Technologist in Radiography and MRI by the CAMRT and Registered as Radiography and MRI Technologist by the CMRTO. He Published scientific assays, thesis and papers mostly related to MRI and neuroimaging with international experience in teaching and supervising radiology students.
Ms. Kitty Chan: Ms. Chan joined the Princess Margaret Hospital as a radiation therapist in 2006. She enjoys both the patient care and research aspects of radiation therapy. Kitty has worked in a combined treatment and research therapist role involving interventional MRI studies in prostate cancer. She has a vast interest in studying time and efficiency in health care, and published an article titled “Investigating patient wait times for daily outpatient radiotherapy appointments”. She graduated from the Masters of Health Science (MHSc) degree in Radiation Sciences at the University of Toronto in 2011. As part of her Master’s research project, she utilized the Lean Method to study the MR-guided brachytherapy process for treatment of cervical cancer. Kitty joined the brachytherapy team as a Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist (CSRT) since 2012 and is currently taking a leadership role as the co-chair of CSRT Community of Practice at the Cancer Care Ontario.
Ms. Laura Dalimonte: Ms. Dalimonte received her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Windsor in 2000. She completed the joint degree/diploma Medical Radiation Sciences from the University of Toronto/Michener Institute in 2005. She recently graduated with a Masters in Health Sciences from the University of Toronto in 2013. She joined the Sunnybrook Team in 2006 and has held various positions within the organization including team lead, research radiation therapist and most recently Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist (CSRT) with the Brachytherapy Program. She is a Lecturer at the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Toronto and a Clinical Educator with The Michener Institute teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Laura’s research and scholarly activity is focused on improving the care and clinical outcomes of our patients and their families during their cancer journey.
Ms. Darby Erler: Ms. Erler is the Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist for the Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) Program at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook and an Instructor with the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Toronto. She is also a graduate of University of Toronto’s Master of Health Science in Medical Radiation Sciences program. Her research areas of interest include assessing clinical outcomes associated with the use of SBRT in oligometastatic disease and primary cancers, evaluating innovations in treatment delivery and improving the patient experience with the use of patient reported outcomes.
