About the Education Day
The focus of this Education Day is on Radiation Safety in Digital Radiography; it includes:
1) An in-depth analysis of latest research findings about optimization of radiation exposure and image quality
2) The role of Quality Control in optimizing radiation dose to patient and dose management in different areas (e.g. pediatric radiography, mobile radiography)
3) Current Global Approaches to Radiation Safety
Accreditation

This Education Day content has been approved by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) for up to 6.25 hours Category A credit in continuing Education; recognized by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) as well as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). We provide certificate of attendance.

Medical Radiation Technologists (Radiography)
- 1) Learn about the combined effects of increasing kVp and decreasing mAs to reduce patient skin dose while maintaining quality on images of the chest, hand, skull and pelvis.
- 2) Demonstrate that high kVp and low mAs techniques can replace traditional film screen techniques thus reducing patient dose while producing image of diagnostic quality
- 3) Review how radiography students, radiographers, radiologist and radiology residents rated the images
- 4) Develop an understanding of the importance of QC in Radiation Safety.
- 5) Learn about the different QC tests in digital Radiography
- 6) Develop an understanding of the importance of radiation dose records for risk estimation and how it is related to ALARA.
- 7) Explore new research findings in Patient dose management in different areas like pediatric, mobile radiography and digital mammography
- 8) Explore methods to educate patients about radiation doses
- 9) Explore different Radiation Safety Initiatives (image gently Alliance, Image wisely…)
- 10) Explain the role of the global organizations in raising awareness about radiation Safety (ISRRT, WHO, IAEA, ICRP…)
