The focus of this Webinar is on Racism in Healthcare; it will cover:
1- No Place For Racism In Healthcare
– Raising awareness about biases, stereotyping and racism in Canadian healthcare system
– Ethics and racism in healthcare
– Possible directions for anti-racism in healthcare
2- Lets Talk About Race (LTAR)
– As a person of a visible minority group and a person of color, Annum will speak to her experiences in Canadian healthcare and academia
– Topics like diversity, inclusion, equity, anti-blackness, and anti-oppression will be briefly touched

Annum Dawood, MSc. Candidate Radiation Biology, MRT (R)

Short Biography

John Peacock, CRGS, RTR,  Education Facilitator in Early Trauma and Effects, John trained in Healthcare including Radiology and Sonography in Hamilton Ontario graduating with Dean’s Honours in all programs receiving awards for Excellence in Patient Care and Excellence in UltraSound Procedures. He received further guidance and training at McMaster University Health Centre as well as two of three other major hospitals in the region. After graduating John was recruited by U of T, Health Canada and the Regional Zone Hospital yo set up a mobile ultrasound program for remote First Nation’s of the Sioux Lookout Zone in Northwestern Ontario. It was such an important program and step forward in Healthcare for the region he stayed to oversee and work the program for nearly 22 years. Now retired he spends his time speaking to Healthcare organizations, college programs in Di, Mental Health and Childhood Education on Early Childhood Trauma, Compassion, and his former career in the north. He is in the arduous task of writing a book about his life which he has and does draw upon in all his work.

Annum Dawood, MSc. Candidate Radiation Biology, MRT (R),Annum is a registered technologist practicing in Ontario since 2016 and worked at a state-of-art Toronto hospital till 2018 after which she went on to pursue graduate studies at McMaster University.
