The live webinar will cover:

1. Optimisation of positioning and compression in mammography

  • Review the implications of compression and positioning variability
  • Outline the possible solutions which may improve client experience

2. Dense breasts – troubleshooting and Tailoring to history

  • Review definition of dense breasts and importance of supplemental screening approaches
  • Discuss cases and outcomes – highlighting use of CESM, ultrasound and MRI

3. Digital Breast Tomosynthesis – From Screening to Image-guided procedure

  • Explain the physics of DBT
  • Discuss the role of DBT in screening mammogram
  • Explore the role of DBT in diagnostic mammogram – mass, architectural distortion, asymmetry and microcalcifications.
  • Explain the DBT-guided procedures
  • Discuss the dual energy contrast enhanced DBT

4. Digital Mammography QC

  • Define Quality Control in Mammography
  • Explore various QC tests performed in digital mammography
  • Discuss artifacts in digital mammography

Short Biographies

Prasaanthan Gopee-Ramanan, HBSc, RTR, MD, FRCPC: Prasa studied Human Biology at UofT St. George from 2005 to 2009, Medical Radiation Sciences specializing as a radiographer from 2009 to 2012, attended medical school at McMaster University from 2012 to 2015 and completed specialty residency training in Diagnostic Radiology from 2015 to 2020 also at McMaster University. Currently, he has completed his 1-year subspecialty fellowship in Women’s Imaging back at UofT. Prasa has keen academic interests in medical education, mentorship, and quality assurance among other domains. Outside of academia, Prasa is a lover of spending time with his wife, son, and extended family. He is also an Indian classical music enthusiast, a mindfulness and life balance practitioner, and budding cyclist.

Ms. Sheetal Ruparelia, BSc. (Hons), MRT(R) : Sheetal studied radiography in England where she got a BSc. (Hons) in Diagnostic Imaging and further pursued her career with her interest in breast imaging by attaining a PgC in Mammography. She qualified in 2006 and has practiced in various hospitals and clinics and held several responsibilities such as Quality assurance of Imaging department. She moved to Canada in 2016 where she attained her CAMRT certification and started working immediately in general radiography, BMD and Mammography. She worked at Princess Margaret hospital in the breast imaging department. Currently she is working at Trillium Health Partners where she performs mammograms and breast ultrasounds.
