Short Biographies
Dr. Ameya Kulkarni, MD, Assistant Professor : Dr. Kulkarni reached Canada in pursuit of training in cancer imaging. After completing fellowship in Breast/Cross-sectional imaging at McMaster University’s Juravinski Hospital, he is now an Associate Staff Radiologist at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. His interests include women’s imaging, GI and hepatobiliary imaging. He loves teaching and have received an award as a Fellow Teacher and Mentor in my fellowship. His research interests are primarily in the field of quantitative imaging
Jia Inacio, MBA, BSc, MRT(R), DMS: Jia has over 10 years of experience in Medical Imaging, specializing in multi-modality Breast imaging. Jia is a radiographer as well as a sonographer from the Michener institute, and holds an MBA from the University of Toronto. Jia currently manages the Breast Health Clinic at Humber River hospital.
Sheetal Ruparelia, MRT(R); PgC ; BSc (Hons): Sheetal finished her BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Imaging from the London South Bank University in June 2006. She has a keen interest in breast imaging and therefore obtained a post graduate certificate in mammography in May 2009, from Kingston University. She has practiced in various government and private hospitals/clinics, both in London, England and Toronto, Ontario. She has held roles to assist with maintaining quality assurance, training and development of staff (new employees and less experienced staff). She currently works at Princess Margaret hospital. Academically based with several research interests working closely with clinical colleagues. A qualified Radiographer progressing into Mammography, Advanced Practice and breast centre programme management, with a MSc in Advanced Medical Imaging and a PhD centred around breast compression. Focused research within breast imaging focusing on the practical issues faced in the clinical environment, such as compression force variability and improving positioning technique.
Peter Hogg (PhD): Professor Emeritus, University of Salford (UK) and Visiting (Chair) Professor, Hanze University, Netherlands, Academic Department Advisor (Hong Kong University polytechnic). Professional qualifications in diagnostic radiography, nuclear medicine and radiation protection. Research interests include breast cancer diagnosis using mammography, and dose / image quality optimisation for X-ray technologies. Key academic positions held include Academic Head of Department, MSc Programme Leader, Research Dean, Research Centre Director. Has thirty years of research and teaching experience in three academic institutions.
