Short Biographies

Ms. Valentina Al Hamouche: Valentina holds an M.Sc. Health Systems Management, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, UK and B.Sc. (Hons) in Radiography Anglia Polytechnic University, Cambridge, UK Applied Health Sciences Department, Division of Radiography. She has also received a FAETC: Further Adult and Education Teacher’s Certificate from the College of North-East London, UK (1991), and a Diploma in Radiologic Technology American University of Beirut-Medical Centre Radiologic Technology Training Program, Lebanon. In 1994, she has pursued further education and training in radiation safety sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the International Center of Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste Italy. She has over 25 years of radiography teaching experience at different Universities in Canada and abroad. She is a registration committee member at the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). She is certified with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). In 2017 she founded VCA Education Solutions for Health Professionals, Inc. In 2018, she was appointed to represent CMRITO at Accreditation Canada.

Ms. Sheetal Ruparelia, BSc. (Hons), MRT(R) : Sheetal studied radiography in England where she got a BSc. (Hons) in Diagnostic Imaging and further pursued her career with her interest in breast imaging by attaining a PgC in Mammography. She qualified in 2006 and has practiced in various hospitals and clinics and held several responsibilities such as Quality assurance of Imaging department. She moved to Canada in 2016 where she attained her CAMRT certification and started working immediately in general radiography, BMD and Mammography. She worked at Princess Margaret hospital in the breast imaging department. Currently she is working at Trillium Health Partners where she performs mammograms and breast ultrasounds.

Dr. Nejc Mekis, PhD, MSc, rad. technol., MSc. ecotechnol, BSc (Hons) radiography: currently working at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the University of Ljubljana, where he is head of research and head of radiology lab at the Medical imaging and radiotherapy department. His field of lectures at 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle degree cover emergency radiography, general radiography, radiologic technology, dose optimization, radiation protection, DEXA, research in radiography. He is an author of more than 50 articles and conference papers and co-author of two books relating to radiologic technology and radiographic positioning. His main research fields are general radiography, optimization in radiography, image quality, digital radiography, dosimetry, dose reference levels. He is the first and currently an only assistant professor of radiography in Slovenia.
