Short Biographies
Ms. Linda Gough: Linda Gough is the Registrar & CEO at the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO). Linda obtained her diploma in radiography from the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences in Toronto. In addition, Linda holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Waterloo and a Master’s in Public Policy from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Linda is an advocate for the self-regulation of professions and believes that by involving the professionals themselves in the development of standards used by regulators, along with public members, professions can effectively regulate in the public interest. Linda is a founding member of the Alliance of Medical Radiation Technologists Regulators of Canada and is pleased to be currently serving as its President.
Mr. Leonardo Faundez: Leonardo Faundez has been in the ultrasound field for 18+ years as a sonographer, professor, entrepreneur, and lecturer. He is currently working in three roles: (1) owner/founder of Aprende Canada where he offers continuing education to sonographers and ultrasound education consulting, (2) Clinical Education Specialist at Exact Imaging in charge of the training program for users of a new high-resolution transrectal ultrasound system, and (3) a casual sonographer at University Health Network (UHN). He recently started a partnership with the OAMRS in developing sonography courses based on my Aprende Canada instructional videos. He worked as a full-time sonographer and clinical instructor for about 7 years at UHN and small healthcare facilities to then be an ultrasound faculty at The Michener Institute of Education at UHN for 10 years. He has a Master degree in education from Central Michigan University and has published two articles in the Canadian Journal of Medical Sonography (CJMS) on creating an inexpensive scrotal scanning phantom. He has presented at several national and provincial conferences on several sonography topics. He enjoys travelling with his wife, playing soccer and DJing.
Mr. Ray Lappalainen: Ray has been a sonographer for over 35 years. He has worked in various capacities in the profession: a sole sonographer in a small hospital, sonographer in large teaching hospital, clinical instructor, senior sonographer in a teaching hospital, applications specialist for an ultrasound sales company, and an assistant manager of a diagnostic imaging department. Ray has been involved with ultrasound education and have had positions on the board of directors of provincial and national ultrasound associations for many years, and he now sits on the Council of the CMRTO as one of the sonographer representatives.
